| Hattrick is an on line football management game where you compete against other players within your own country. It is relatively simple to get going: free to use, no downloads (just uses your browser), and the match mechanism and text based reports are simple. Ultimately, as most games of this type are, its all about money. To make money you need to Train players up levels. Sounds simple, but this is where the strategy comes in. You can only train one skill (out of eight) each week - so you need to develop trainees to sell on so you can improve other areas of your squad which you are not training. And even then, not all players in the squad get trained - only those in the relevant position. And this can frustrate some players - it takes a long time to improve your squad, but then people play this game for years and years - it never ends. For me, this is the attraction. The long term approach - developing your strategy and seeing it come good (eventually) is very satisfying. It only requires about 10 minutes a week to keep the squad going, so its good for a lunchtime distraction. The Community is good, and well facilitated - no abusive players, and cheating is not a big problem. But the most amazing thing about the game is the way it sucks you in. There is no constant maintenance, just a tweak here and there each week - but you end up thinking about this for hours on end. League games are played just once a week, but once you get into this you will find you change your line up and tactics almost daily until you find that exact set up to score a hattrick against your opponent. I recommend anyone to try it - but stick at it for at least a season (16 weeks). Get your training programme in place, and become addicted. submitted by Donut102 on 09 03, 2006 |
